When is your tax return due?
Tax return due dates vary and depend upon a range of criteria. However, if you are an individual lodging your own tax return, the deadline for lodgement of your tax return is October 31. Generally, taxpayers lodging through a Tax Agent, such as Accounting Solutions Group, will qualify for an extension on this date. To qualify for the lodgement extension date make sure you are registered with a Tax Agent prior to the October 31 deadline.
When your prior year tax return has been lodged through a registered tax agent, for most individuals (on salary & wages) your due date will most likely be 15 May, however this concessional date may vary and only applies if prior year tax obligations have been met on time. You may lodge your tax return at any time before your due date provided you have all documents you require to submit the return.
If you have not submitted your return on time, you should do so as soon as possible. We at ASG specialise in late and multiple year returns, so if you have overdue returns and would like to take steps to getting up to date, and minimise any potential penalties, please contact us on (03) 5976 4082 to arrange an appointment.
Please note that at the time of writing, the deadline dates for lodgement are estimates based on previous tax years, and individual circumstances may vary.
